In 2014, Headstrong and its team of Sport Psychology Professionals joined the WPRA programme to provide the academy athletes with a seminar series of Sport Psychology and Mental Conditioning over the course of the year. During its time at the academy the Headstrong team worked alongside the athletes, on a variety of rugby specific mental skills training as well as touching on some life orientation concepts to provide the athletes with a well-balanced programme aimed to supplement the various other focal points of their academy experience.
The Western Province Rugby Academy (WPRA) has been created to provide many talented young rugby players with the best possible opportunity to pursue a professional career in Rugby Union. The WPRA provides the ideal platform for achieving this by integrating the experience, expertise and systems of the Western Province Rugby Institute (Stellenbosch), with leading edge methods and athlete development programmes. The WPRA is currently based at the Athlete Development Centre (ADC) Campus in Tokai, Cape Town, South Africa.
Since 2015 Headstrong has been involved in an extended capacity at the academy, providing seminars as well on one-on-one support for the WPRA players.
