The Headstrong Team proudly joined Villager FC at the end of 2013. Having been part of Andrew Hughes’s coaching staff in 2012 while working alongside the UCT u20 Varsity Cup squad and the UCT u20 High Performance Programme it was only fitting that we joined him on his quest to get Villager FC back into the WP Super League A. The Club announced that for the 2014 season it would be reverting back to amateur status in terms of players no longer being paid to play. This set an interesting challenge for the coaching staff, ultimately meaning that an environment of “playing for the right reason” needed to be created and thereafter maintained.
Headstrong provides support, psychologically, strategically and by means of player management, for Andrew Hughes and his coaching staff while also providing Mental Conditioning by means of Mental Skills Training for the players at the club. Our level of work covers an array of different areas involving all coaching staff, committee members and players. While our focus is heavier on the 1st XV setup we ensure that the lower teams experience as much assistance as possible.
In 2014 Headstrong's sport psychology services contributed to Villager FC being crowned Super League B champions, and gaining promotion to the top league for 2015.
